Nova
Female | Australian Shepherd Mix | 6 yrs
No young children(12+), No cats
Nova is back from her foster adventure! We learned that she really will do best with only one human in the house and being the only pet. She still needs slow introductions even when in her new home. She had great manners without accidents in her foster home and was not destructive so she would not need to be kenneled when left home alone. Please ask questions and we’d be happy to get you in touch with her former foster dad if you want to get to know her more!
Our longest term resident! Nova was brought in with a male dog and a puppy in 2022, though she remains. Being in the shelter for so long has made her reactive and sassy, therefore she requires a slow introduction. For most new introductions we muzzle her to keep everyone safe. Once she is comfortable with you, she is very affectionate. We call her “Our Princess.”
She does not get along with female dogs but has shown little to no aggression towards male dogs. Give her some time, you’ll love her as much as we do!
Nova weighs around 30 pounds.Nova's adoption has been sponsored!

Lilac
Female | Coohound Mix | Born 8/5/2022
No young kids(12+) or elderly, no cats, some dogs *would do best with single female & no other pets
This pretty lady came to us on 4/7/2026. She is a great dog who is just a bit particular. She’s not a big fan of some people (some men, some elderly) and does not get along with all dogs in a household setting. Lilac has been to doggy daycare in Rapid City at Meadowridge Pet Lodge, and gets along with dogs in a neutral setting. She has some separation anxiety and can be a bit destructive when left home alone, though she hasn’t shown any destructive behavior spending nights with one of our employees. She is not a fan of small children. If you have further question regarding Lilac, please reach out through our email.
Lilac weighs around 50 lbs. -

Gus
Male | Lab Mix | ~8 years
Good w/ dogs that give him space, unsure of cats
Gus was brought to us on 4/24/26 as a stray. He’s a very sweet and well-mannered ole boy, though he likes to jump up on you when he’s excited! We aren’t sure of his age - his face says 10 but the vet guesses 8 - regardless of age, Gus gets around great! He jumps into cars, runs to his kennel, and digs to his hearts content! We aren’t sure how he feels about cats (seems like he’s hunting them but might just be curious,) yet seems fine with his neighboring dogs as long as he has plenty of space.
Gus weighs about 74 lbs.Gus is a senior & available for a senior fee of $75.

Cutlass
Male | Heeler/Doberman Mix | Born 3/8/23
No cats, no male dogs, no small kids(12+)
Cutlass came to us on 4/30/26 after his owner passed away. We think he would do best with older kids, a fenced yard, and/or living with someone who is very active. Cutlass has a lot of energy to burn and absolutely loves the water! He’s a lake or creek playing dog for sure. Cutlass is a little finicky upon new introductions, he’s quite tough with a kennel between you and he, but once he warms up, he’s a real hambone. We invite you to come visit him and see if you could be his next best friend!
Cutlass weighs 50 lbs. -

Harlequinn
Female | Lab/Pit Mix | Born 3/20/24
No other dogs, unsure of cats
Harlequinn and her “sister,” Akasha, are with us after not being able to return home. (Though they came together, do not need adopted out together.) Harley is a sweet but reserved gal. She’ll give you a full body dog kiss bath! Although she gets along with Akasha, doesn’t seem to be a big fan of other dogs and would probably chase cats if given the chance. Harley is a lover of people and jumps up on you when she’s excited! She is a sweet cuddler and loves to go on car rides! Harley has a hematoma on her neck and requires harnessing.
Harlequinn weighs 48 pounds -

Mocha
Female | English Mastador/Lab Mix | Born 2025
Some dogs, unsure of cats (but would probably recommend no cats)
Mocha and her sister, Shyra, came to us on 6/4/26 after their owner could no longer care for them. (Though sisters, do not need adopted together.) Mocha is the more confident of the two. She is a big goofball who uses her whole head for drinks of water! Lover of bones and hard toys, destroyer of fluffy toys! Mocha is gaining more confidence by going on more walks and having her independence from Shyra. We think Mocha would get along with other dogs, but a meet-and-greet would need to be set up!
Mocha weighs around 90 pounds. -

Phoenix
Male | Shepherd/Akita/Kelpie Mix | 1+ year old
Seems fine with other dogs, unsure of cats (but his siblings have done fine w/ cats!)
Phoenix is the most brave and excited to meet people. He opened up to us pretty quickly and continues to be a good boy with a crooked gaze! He loves to go on walks and get outside for exercise! He is the last of the Mythicals here at the shelter.
Phoenix weighs 52 lbs.Phoenix came to us the week of June 21st, 2026 with 7 other dogs. They were involved in a house explosion in the early morning of June 21st. There were 17 dogs total and all dogs (and humans) survived. All dogs have singed fur but thankfully, only a couple had severe injuries. We don’t know their former names and any other history than potential breed mixes. We do know they lived with children.

Toby
Male | Yellow Lab Mix | Around 2 years
Seems to get along with dogs, cats unknown, loves people
Toby came to us as a stray. A lovely lady picked him up and took care of him for a while before being brought to the shelter. Unfortunately no one has stepped forward to claim me! I am a lover of people, I just want to cuddle and go on walks.

Charlie
Male | Retriever/Black Lab Mix | Born Jan. 2022
Charlie came to us on 8/15/26 after the health decline of his owner - life happens and luckily we were here to help out a family having to make this hard choice. Charlie is a sweet boy, a little chunky, and a HUGE fan of belly rubs. He’s a very, very good boy that would love to find his next human/family. Charlie is 92 lbs.

Athena
Female | Retriever/Labrador Mix | Born April 2020

Sunny is back with us after spending 7 months with a family. She was returned after biting her grandma. She first came to us after coming in as a stray in July of 2025. Sunny is 55 lbs.
