Community Programs
Seniors for Seniors
The Seniors for Seniors Program pairs senior citizens (65+) with senior cats (8+ years) to provide companionship and joy. This mutually beneficial bond helps reduce loneliness, stress, and anxiety while improving overall well-being.
-
The Seniors for Seniors Program is designed to match senior citizens (65+) with senior cats (8+ years), offering a unique opportunity for companionship and joy. These mature cats are calm, affectionate, and often require less attention, making them the perfect companions for older adults seeking a pet to share their lives with.
Program Benefits:
Health Benefits: Studies show that having a pet can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and increase social interaction and physical activity. Senior pets provide calm, tender companionship that can improve both physical and mental health.
Fostering Connection: A pet's companionship brings joy and comfort, offering seniors a fulfilling sense of purpose and a way to stay engaged in everyday life.
Waived Adoption Fees: To make this match even easier, WHHS waives all adoption fees for seniors adopting senior cats, making it both an affordable and fulfilling experience.
If you’re interested in adopting a senior cat and believe this program might be a great fit for you, please reach out to us today! We’ll help you find the perfect companion who is sure to bring joy and comfort into your home.
Microchipping
We offer microchipping for just $35, ensuring your pet has the best chance of being reunited if lost. It’s a small investment for lasting peace of mind.
-
Microchipping is a simple and effective way to ensure your pet can always find their way home if lost. The microchip, about the size of a grain of rice, is a small electronic chip implanted under your pet’s skin using a quick and easy injection. It doesn’t require anesthesia, and the procedure is as painless as a routine vaccination.
Once implanted, the microchip is activated by a scanner, which transmits a unique ID number that helps animal shelters and veterinarians identify your pet and reunite you if they’re found. The chip has no battery and lasts a lifetime, providing permanent identification for your pet.
We offer microchipping for just $35 — a small price to pay for lasting peace of mind knowing your pet will always have a way home. Please Note: If you adopt a dog from WHHS, Microchipping is included with the adoption fee.
